Album Cover Art Gallery:

After attending the 'Album Art Gallery' in Central London, I realised the effetiveness of simplicity on an album cover. An example of this is the Adele- 'Adele 19' and Adam Ant-'B side Babies' album cover...

...whereby the simple silhouette and dark colour scheme seems to convey the theme and messages which are connoted through their music.

  • Generic:Adam Ant's shows rebellion throught the costume, make up used as a slit across his face. This is emphasised in original ilustration of the cover which shows him bursting through a paper wall. In terms of my Album cover i think it would work even better if their was direct address as this gives audience appeal and intensity.
  • Generic: Adele has a high angle therefore sense of vulnerability and the pastille soft tones are ocnnotations of soft, slow, romantic and reflective music.
  • The contrasting colours are appealing in terms of being a CD cover on a retailer's display.
  • Only an artist image, artist name and album name on the covers gives instant branding and audience recognition.
